Veggie Pan Pizza

Hello,

Check out this recipe for an absolutely delicious pizza crust. This is close to the Pizza Hut ‘Pan’ crust Pizza. Soft in the center with a crispy base, loaded with veggies and cheese. We have used fire-roasted pepper and this topping truly was a game-changer. Of course, this is optional.

Pizza Hut sure has a special memory in my mind. This was the first place I have ever tasted a pizza. Now, when I see Pizza Hut, I see a fast food joint with mostly takeaway. What I remember from my early childhood about Pizza Hut is a family diner, with excellence in service and hospitality. We used to love their salad bar with their delicious coleslaw and Russian salad.  Somehow, making this recipe at home with my husband made me relive this fond memory. It was incredibly easy to make at home as well.

Let us get right to it!

Instructions
  1. Take dry milk, sugar, and instant yeast in a mixing bowl. Add the water (110°F- 125°F) and mix well.
  2. Slowly add in the flour and salt.
  3. Bring the dough together and begin kneading.
  4. Add 3 tbsp. oil and continue kneading. It will be sticky when you begin to knead, the soft dough will begin to form as you continue to knead
  5. Transfer the dough to a flat surface and knead for 10 minutes.
  6. After 10 minutes, you will have a non-sticky and soft dough
  7. Now it is time to rest the dough to proof. Split the dough into 2. Flatten and tuck into a ball.In a greased bowl, place the rolls
  8. Set aside to rest in a warm place for 1.5 to 2 hours. I like to place it inside the oven with the lights on.
  9. The dough should have doubled after resting time. It took me 1.5 hours.
  10. Now you can get all the toppings ready. One optional topping is fire-roasted red pepper. Place a red bell pepper over medium flame, and roast.
  11. Once all sides are well roasted, turn off the flame. Wash off the charred coating.
  12. Slice as you desire and it is ready to use!
  13. Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F.
  14. Grease a baking tray with olive oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs
  15. Transfer the raised dough to a dry flat surface. Stretch with your hand.
  16. Roll out the dough using a rolling pin. This will help smoothen the cracks. Shape to fit the baking tray.
  17. Place the rolled out dough onto the greased baking tray. No need to shape the corner crusts, just stretch to fit the tray.
  18. Spread sauce
  19. Sprinkle some grated Mozzarella cheese
  20. Top with veggies, olives, and roasted red pepper
  21. Sprinkle cracked pepper, dry Italian herbs, and dry chili flakes.
  22. Time for cheesy goodness! Go ahead and sprinkle generously with grated Mozzarella cheese. Ready for baking.
  23. Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Till the cheese is all melted and corners turn golden brown
  24. Optional Step: After the baking time has completed, you can broil the pizza for 1-2 minutes, to get beautiful brown spots on the cheese.
  25. The pizza is ready! Remove from the oven. Gently transfer the pizza from the pan to a lined chopping board. Cut as you please.
  26. Gently transfer the pizza from the pan to a lined chopping board. Optional- Brush melted butter on the crust. I have used Melted Garlic Butter.
